Chicken Teriyaki Dinner - Iccho Restaurant

$11.75 + Tax

I think this place serves  the best chicken teriyaki dinner among all the restaurants that I've visited so far.  The chicken was char-grilled, which means it had the nice BBQ aroma and the nice grill flavor.  Many other places that offer teriyaki chicken pan fried the chicken, which just didn't taste that good to me.  I like my teriyaki chicken with the skin on, but you can request to have the skin taken off if you don't like the skin.  The teriyaki sauce here was just right to my taste because I don't like the overly sweet teriyaki sauce in so many other places.  I also loved that tangy ginger dressing for the complimentary  side garden salad.  The salad dressing tasted very refreshing and again it wasn't like other overly sweet and sour Asian salad dressings that are commonly served else where.  The dinner came also  with a side of nicely dressed macaroni salad, two fresh orange wedges, a bowl of steamed white rice, and a bowl of miso soup.  The miso soup this time was no good and it just had too strong a smell and taste of bleach.  Whoever junior kitchen staff who was responsible for making that miso soup wasn't doing the job right.  I hope it wasn't the dish washer who was responsible for making the miso soup.  I left behind the bowl of miso soup after just one sip. I can however forgive this mishap because the rest of the dinner was great and I was given so much chicken that I was able to save half for lunch the next day.

Iced Coffee With Coffee Jelly - Hamadaya

$3.55 + Tax I would like to avoid coffee after work, but I couldn't help it when I was shopping for dinner to go. I felt so tired and thirsty after my commute from work.  I just felt like having some coffee to recharge me even though drinking coffee in the evening is not really a healthy lifestyle. So I ordered the coffee jelly over milk with a shot of espresso at this bakery cafe before I began my dinner shopping.  I was just curious when I saw this on the menu.  May be a lot of people like to have jelly in their coffee, I personally don't care for coffee with boba or jelly.  I prefer not to have anything that isn't liquid in my coffee but I'm neutral about it.   The jelly in this coffee tasted like black coffee and I guess it was made with black coffee.    In terms of taste, this isn't my most favorite coffee drink.  It tasted okay to me. Popcorn Chicken Bento - Mindi's Kitchen

$8.95 + Tax I'm back to Mindi's Kitchen tonight simply because I'm hungry and  craving for  some Taiwanese comfort food that reminds me of the home-cooked meals that I had when I was visiting Taiwan.  I'm not Taiwanese, but I have Taiwanese friends who introduced me to their food that I instantly fell in love with.  Taiwanese popcorn chicken is one of those signature Taiwanese snacks that also make great meals.  Yes, they are a lot more delicious than the typical American popcorn chicken.  And yes, they are much better tasting than the McNuggets.  I never understood the appeal of McNuggets.  I never liked McNuggets even when I was a kid who loved to visit McDonald's.   My parents also hated the nuggets.  May be my dislike for McNuggets is genetic.
