Snow Crab Legs - China Buffet

On this Thanksgiving day, I'm very thankful for the hardworking staff who keep this Chinese restaurant open today, because if not for them, I would have nowhere to go for a Thanksgiving dinner.  I came here alone tonight and I was very happy with the buffet here.  I love the juicy, sweet and meaty snow crab legs!  They were mostly what I had tonight.  There was the roasted turkey, with the gravy and mashed potatoes too!  The turkey was pretty decent and the gravy was very tasty. I had a tiny bit of the turkey and a teaspoon of gravy because I was there mainly for the crab legs.  This place had great fruits tonight also.   I'm not a big eater so Buffet is usually not my meal choice.  But on a special holiday like today when most restaurants are closed, this is the best place to be for a hungry Thanksgiving orphan.  By being here, I felt less lonely because I saw how I wasn't the only person who had no home to go to for a Thanksgiving dinner, and there were plenty of people who were there eating alone, or eating with their spouses only.  This place just  made me feel more normal on Thanksgiving.  Besides, I can't find anywhere that can beat the price for such decent all-you-can-eat deal. The hot and sour soup here tasted so much better than the one I had at Din Tai Fung!

$22 + Tax I love Shabu-Shabu.  I can have this for lunch and dinner everyday if only I can afford to.  I don't cook but I love this cook-it-yourself table top cooking format at a Shabu-Shabu restaurant. Iced Coffee With Coffee Jelly - Hamadaya

$3.55 + Tax I would like to avoid coffee after work, but I couldn't help it when I was shopping for dinner to go. I felt so tired and thirsty after my commute from work.  I just felt like having some coffee to recharge me even though drinking coffee in the evening is not really a healthy lifestyle. So I ordered the coffee jelly over milk with a shot of espresso at this bakery cafe before I began my dinner shopping.  I was just curious when I saw this on the menu.  May be a lot of people like to have jelly in their coffee, I personally don't care for coffee with boba or jelly.  I prefer not to have anything that isn't liquid in my coffee but I'm neutral about it.   The jelly in this coffee tasted like black coffee and I guess it was made with black coffee.    In terms of taste, this isn't my most favorite coffee drink.  It tasted okay to me. Popcorn Chicken Bento - Mindi's Kitchen

$8.95 + Tax I'm back to Mindi's Kitchen tonight simply because I'm hungry and  craving for  some Taiwanese comfort food that reminds me of the home-cooked meals that I had when I was visiting Taiwan.  I'm not Taiwanese, but I have Taiwanese friends who introduced me to their food that I instantly fell in love with.  Taiwanese popcorn chicken is one of those signature Taiwanese snacks that also make great meals.  Yes, they are a lot more delicious than the typical American popcorn chicken.  And yes, they are much better tasting than the McNuggets.  I never understood the appeal of McNuggets.  I never liked McNuggets even when I was a kid who loved to visit McDonald's.   My parents also hated the nuggets.  May be my dislike for McNuggets is genetic.
