Chicken Teriyaki Dinner - Iccho Restaurant

Image
$11.75 + Tax I think this place serves  the best chicken teriyaki dinner among all the restaurants that I've visited so far.  The chicken was char-grilled, which means it had the nice BBQ aroma and the nice grill flavor.  Many other places that offer teriyaki chicken pan fried the chicken, which just didn't taste that good to me.  I like my teriyaki chicken with the skin on, but you can request to have the skin taken off if you don't like the skin.  The teriyaki sauce here was just right to my taste because I don't like the overly sweet teriyaki sauce in so many other places.  I also loved that tangy ginger dressing for the complimentary  side garden salad.  The salad dressing tasted very refreshing and again it wasn't like other overly sweet and sour Asian salad dressings that are commonly served else where.  The dinner came also  with a side of nicely dressed macaroni salad, two fresh orange wedges, a bowl of steamed white rice...

Japanese Grilled Rice Ball - Iccho Restaurant

$2.50 + Tax One thing I love about  this restaurant is that it opens till after midnight.  I just came back from work and I dropped by for dinner.  It was after midnight and I don't know where I would go eat if not for this restaurant. One would assume that a college degree guarantees a nice office job with nice 9-5 stable hours.  I got my office job all right but since I don't work for the government that meticulously observes the 8-hours workday and I'm defined by the labor department as salaried professionals who do not qualify for overtime pay; my employer isn't shy to put people like me to work the extra hours. For my type of job, driving home after midnight from an office isn't abnormal.  My colleagues and I consider work days with an off-duty hour around midnight to be some of our better days since it can be worse as we are approaching the deadline of our projects. Anyway, I ordered my usual grilled rice ball, which is a very popular late nig...

Pan Fried Tofu With Kimchee - Iccho Restaurant

Image
$6.5 + Tax I've been visiting this Japanese restaurant with my family for years, and I had witnessed a serial change of ownership, cooks and wait staff and therefor the ups and downs of the food quality.  But most of the time, the food here tasted good to me so I can forgive the bad time.  This tofu dish is a dish that I always order when I visit this restaurant.  It's my fixture order here no matter what else I also order because this dish is fridge friendly and it tastes great for lunch the next day.  This dish makes a great meal with a bowl of steamed white rice because of its tasty sauce. I always order the grilled rice balls at this restaurant to soak up the flavorful sauce.  The tofu, otherwise pretty bland in favor on its own, balances the saltiness and the spiciness of the Kimchee very well.  This dish made me like Kimchee years ago.  I remember how I initially didn't like the Kimchee straight out of the jar. But somehow the Kimchee in...
