I've been visiting this Japanese restaurant with my family for years, and I had witnessed a serial change of ownership, cooks and wait staff and therefor the ups and downs of the food quality. But most of the time, the food here tasted good to me so I can forgive the bad time. This tofu dish is a dish that I always order when I visit this restaurant. It's my fixture order here no matter what else I also order because this dish is fridge friendly and it tastes great for lunch the next day. This dish makes a great meal with a bowl of steamed white rice because of its tasty sauce. I always order the grilled rice balls at this restaurant to soak up the flavorful sauce. The tofu, otherwise pretty bland in favor on its own, balances the saltiness and the spiciness of the Kimchee very well. This dish made me like Kimchee years ago. I remember how I initially didn't like the Kimchee straight out of the jar. But somehow the Kimchee in this dish tasted very good to me after being pan fried. After having this dish for years, I now just love Kimchee whether it's straight out of the pickle jar or it's cooked with meat or tofu.
