Fried Pork Chop - Din Tai Fung

Image
$6.00 + Tax This is another dish from this restaurant that I don't care for.  The fried pork chop didn't taste bad, it tasted somewhat okay with a very light hint of freezer smell and a very minor smell of game typical of long frozen pork.  The marinates and the frying process helped a lot to mask such  smell, but I could still smell it because I really don't like the freezer smell and the smell of game.  I just expected a better fried pork chop from this place. I don't think I will order this dish again. I personally think the fried pork chop at Mindy's Kitchen is so much better.

Chicken Fried Rice - Din Tai Fung

Image
$9.50 + Tax This fried rice is another bland tasting dish from this restaurant . There was no taste in this fried rice except the hint of game in some of the chicken pieces in it.  I didn't like the chicken in this fried rice and I didn't like even the rice in this fried rice.  I usually don't care for portion size, but the portion of this fried rice was quite small for the price point, so I expected it to taste good.  Yet it was another disappointment.

Hot & Sour Soup - Din Tai Fung

Hot & Sour Soup (Small) $6.00 + Tax I always love a good bowl of hot & sour soup. But the hot & sour soup at this restaurant was just too bland for me.  It was lacking both the flavor and the kick that I expected. The fact that it looked like it could be a tasty bowl of good hot & soup soup made it even more disappointing.  I also didn't like the pork strips in there because a few strips tasted stinky (gamy).  I love pork but I don't like gamy meat.  Maybe it's just how animals are raised these days?  I feel that as years go by, I'm experiencing more and more stinky meat, whether they are chicken, pork or beef.  There is this hint of game and stink in a lot of meats that I tasted in recent years, that I never had realized when I was growing up.  I remember the meat tasted so good when I was a kid,  when I only had gamy meat only in the extremely rare occasions when we unfortunately stumbled upon a bad restaurant that cooke...

Milk Tea - Din Tai Fung

Image
$4.00 + Tax I don't mind the price of this milk tea if only it was good.  This milk tea at this restaurant tasted so bland.  I couldn't taste much tea, or milk.  I think I can make much better milk tea myself at home with a Lipton tea bag and the evaporated milk from the can. This is one of those items that my father always banned us from ordering when he took us to eat out when we were kids.  His rationale was, "Never order anything in a restaurant that we can easily make it better at home."
